NEXUS VRANJE WITHIN THE PROJECT "IMPROVING INTERETHNIC COOPERATION BETWEEN VRANJE AND TUTIN BY EMPOWERING ETHNIC MINORITY GIRLS AND WOMEN"

3. December 2019.

Within the project "Improving Interethnic Cooperation between Vranje and Tutin by Empowering Girls and Women Belonging to Ethnic Minorities and Networking Relevant Stakeholders from Local Communities", the NEXUS Vranje civic association organized an advocacy meeting with representatives of institutions.

According to Milena Dimitrijevic, the Project Manager, the meeting was organized to identify the basic problems of women from ethnic minority groups, including migrant women, and was dedicated to organizing local events.

Experiences on the position of women from minority groups from the perspective of institutions were exchanged at the meeting. It was concluded that there was a need to empower women and girls in the field of reproductive health, as discussed by Jozica Brankovic, a senior physical therapist. According to her, lectures on reproductive health and gynecological examinations of women will be organized.

There are also plans for educational workshops with the 7th and 8th grade girls from three primary schools. The action will involve around 100 Roma women and girls, as well as migrant women.

The NEXUS Vranje civic association implements the project with the partner organization IMPULS from Tutin, while the project is funded by the European Union, in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Serbia, through the EUPRO program.
