NATO TRAINS SERBIAN SOLDIERS IN BUJANOVAC

16. October 2019.

Bujanovac –  A group of NATO military experts arrived in Serbia to conduct at the “Jug” Army base near Bujanovac the last phase of a training process for the Army of Serbia, which is based on its training module, called "Operational Capabilities - Evaluation and Reporting", the NATO Liaison Office in Belgrade said.

The program will take place this week and the goal is to enable the engineering company, as the fourth unit of the Army of Serbia, to be fully capable of operating under NATO standards and procedures.

These standards and procedures are recognized by the United Nations and the European Union in their peacekeeping operations. Serbia's contribution to these missions is greatly appreciated.

The "Operational Capabilities Concept - Evaluation and Reporting" is a mechanism under the Partnership for Peace, in which Serbia is among the most active participants and through which the NATO Partner countries' armed forces are trained and evaluated in accordance with the standards of that military alliance.

This process enables the enhancement of the operational capabilities of NATO partners individually, including Serbia, through close military cooperation with NATO.

As a result of the "Operational Capabilities - Evaluation and Reporting" program, three units of the Army of Serbia have, so far, been certified as fully trained to participate in international peacekeeping missions.

This mechanism serves as an important framework for joint exercises and different types of training for Serbian and NATO troops.

It is one of a number of successful co-operation mechanisms developed between Serbia and NATO and contributes to strengthening the capabilities of the Army of Serbia, the NATO Liaison Office in Belgrade said.
