MUNICIPALITY OF MEDVEDJA SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING IN THE SPHERE OF GOOD GOVERNANCE

Medvedja – A Memorandum of Understanding on Good Governance was signed in Belgrade by and between 96 local self-governments and representatives of the Swiss PRO program, which is supported by the Government of Switzerland.The contract worth 5.8 million euros is intended for cities and municipalities.

The signing of the contract was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, the Swiss Cooperation Office, relevant state institutions, international organizations and mayors and municipal presidents. The signing of the contract was also attended by Nebojsa Arsic, the Medvedja municipal president.

The Swiss Government support program includes the development of municipalities through the promotion of good governance in the implementation of the competencies of local self-governmental units and social inclusion. The aim of the current Swiss PRO program is to make public administration a modern service for citizens and businesses, by improving the rule of law at the local level, increasing accountability and transparency, improving citizens' participation, and increasing efficiency and effectiveness in the functioning of local self-governments.
