MUNICIPALITY OF MEDVEDJA’S PROJECT FOR THE PROMOTION OF GENDER EQUALITY HAS BEEN APPROVED

Меdvedja - The Commission for Gender Equality, as a mechanism of equality of the municipality of Medvedja, applied for the project "Training for Hairdressers, Make-Up Artists and Manicurists" in a public call under the slogan "To Make Equality a Reality", and received financial support for the implementation of its project. 

The public call is conducted as part of the program "Swiss Government Support to Municipal Development through the Promotion of Good Governance and Social Inclusion - Swiss PRO", which is supported by the Government of Switzerland in cooperation with the Government of Serbia, and implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), in partnership with the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM).

The Swiss government will support with 100,000 euros up to 30 local self-governments in strengthening the mechanisms that contribute to the promotion and advocacy of gender equality in local communities.

Local self-governments will be supported with up to 3,300 euros per project that aims to increase women's participation in the decision-making process, improve the position of women in the local community in the field of fighting against gender-based violence, women's health and economic empowerment, the position of women in rural areas, as well as female members of vulnerable groups. Activities can also be aimed at improving the competencies of local mechanisms, and at promoting the European Charter on Gender Equality at the local level.
