MR.STANKOVIC: THE CASE OF MONUMENT IN PRESEVO UNDERGOING LEGAL PROCEDURE

4. December 2012.

Source: Politika daily / Bujanovac – The President of the Coordination Body for South Serbia, Zoran Stankovic, said yesterday in Bujanovac that a decision on the monument to the Liberation Army of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja would be announced after it had been reached and that legal proceedings were underway, as criminal charges had been brought against the responsible persons.

“The situation with the monument is undergoing a regular legal procedure launched by the governmental bodies, and when a decision on the case is reached, it will be communicated to the public. Monuments with various emblems were erected in other parts of Serbia, too”, Mr. Stankovic said to the reporters

Serbian journalists asked Mr. Stankovic about the monument to the fallen members of the LAPBM in Presevo, while Albanian journalists asked him about the monument placed between the villages of Lucane and Dobrosin, which are situated in the municipality of Bujanovac, the construction of which has begun, and "which upsets the Albanian population.” They said that the monument "upsets the Albanian population", because it is suspected to be dedicated to the fallen members of the Serbian security forces that were killed while fighting against members of the LAPBM.

“"Both monuments are undergoing a legal procedure and you will be informed about everything," said Mr. Stankovic.
