МR. STANKOVIC: “WE SHALL SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF THE MONUMENT IN A PEACEFUL AND CIVILIZED MANNER” (VIDEO)

Source: Tanjug, RTS / President of the Coordination Body for Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, Zoran Stankovic, said that the problem of the monument in Presevo would be resolved in a peaceful and civilized manner.

Mr. Stankovic declined to say what kind of agreement was reached in connection with the controversial monument and only said that Serbia had given "a very fair proposal, based on the law."

“Serbia has its own laws and based on them it shall solve the problem of the monument. The regular legal procedure is underway. The competent governmental authorities, along with the local self-governmental institutions, shall respond, "Mr. Stankovic said for RTS.

He pointed out that Serbia's officials were in a regular contact with the local self-government in Presevo and that the relations were quite correct and devoid of any tensions.

Mr. Stankovic said that the flag of the Republic of Albania, which is hoisted by Albanians in South Serbia, wasn’t the flag of the Albanian minority and called for an agreement in connection with determining this symbol.

“We agreed that experts from the Faculty of Law in Nis, where legal experts from Tirana will come, as well as representatives of the international community, would discuss the use of national minority symbols.
