Bujanovac, Belgrade – “Our goal for “Gumoplastika” is not to turn it into a place for erecting residential and commercial buildings, as some people would want it, but for it to find a strategic partner that would invest in manufacturing, "said Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja.

Mr. Stankovic explained that the Coordination Body had no authority to look for “Gumoplastika’s”   partners, but that it could provide contacts with the relevant governmental institutions and potential partners.

“We, at the time, assumed an obligation of helping "Gumoplastika" with getting out of bankruptcy, which we managed to do in 2015. Now the Ministry of Economy is responsible for the company, and our position on the matter is that because of the area it occupies and the place where it is located, the company, which used to be strong, must invest in new technology and ensure it has foreign partners, so that it could continue to operate, but on a larger scale,"Mr. Stankovic said.

Most of the 68 employees of the company’s plant in the village of Klenike have been on strike since late last year, seeking the replacement of the company’s Director, Srboljub Dimitrijevic, and the provision of a social program by the state, which is the majority owner of the company.
