MR. STANKOVIC HANDED OUT SCHOOL SUPPLIES AND BACKPACKS TO THE FISRT-GRADERS IN THE VILLAGES OF ZBEVAC AND LUCAN

5. September 2019.

Bujanovac – Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, handed out free school supplies and backpacks to the first-graders at the “Dragomir Trajkovic” school in Zbevac and “Sami Fraseri” school in Lucan.

The Coordination Body provided free school supplies to all first-graders in the municipalities of Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja for the 11th year in a row – 849 of them, which is 50 less than  last year.

Mr. Stankovic was met by 23 first-graders from the two above-mentioned schools in the Bujanovac municipality, of whom 10 were from the village of Zbevac and 13 from the village of Lucan.

Following the distribution of school supplies and backpacks, during which the little ones did not take the smiles off from their faces, Cemal Beciri, the principal of the Lucan school, familiarized Mr. Stankovic with the problems that the school faced at the beginning of the school year –the lack of both textbooks in Albanian and bilingual diaries and the dilapidated building of the school.

“In the past period, we worked hard on providing textbooks for children learning in the Albanian language and we will continue to do so.  The textbooks are delayed due to the delay of the Albanian National Council with the delivery of the textbooks that had to be prepared. Still, the plan is for the children to receive 18 books during the year. The consent of the competent authorities for the introduction of textbooks in teaching and other regular procedures is awaited, while the funds have been provided, "Mr. Stankovic said.

He stressed that in the coming period, the Coordination Body would devote special attention to the elimination of infrastructure and technical deficiencies in schools.

“We are talking about leakage, improving energy efficiency, buying teaching aids, as well as about schools that are in a pretty poor shape, where some things have not been replaced for 40 years. All this is something that we have already worked on and that will continue to do with even better dynamics,” Mr. Stankovic said“.

The principals and teachers from the schools in Zbevac and Lucan thanked the Coordination Body on their behalf, but especially on behalf of the parents of the children, to whom this kind of assistance is surely useful.

To the delight of the children, school supplies and backpacks were not all they got.

Namely, Aca Kovacevic, the former coach of Serbia's futsal national team, and now the owner of football club "Mungosi" from Belgrade, donated tracksuits and sports backpacks to the first-graders in Zbevac.

The youngest elementary school students in Lucan also received tracksuits from the Coordination Body, while the Federation for School Sports of Serbia donated them T-shirts.
