MR. STANKOVIC: “HACKING INTO THE SITE IS AN ANTICIPATED PROVOCATION”

29. July 2013.

Zoran Stankovic, President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, said yesterday that hacking into the site of the municipality of Bujanovac was another in a series of expected provocations related to the Brussels negotiations, adding that the local self-government had nothing to do with the changing of the map on which Serbia was shown without Kosovo and Metohija.

"Оne may say that this is yet another expected provocation regarding the Brussels negotiations, and the expectation that the competent Serbian authorities would react hastily and inadequately",  Mr. Stankovic said on the occasion of hacking into the site of the Bujanovac Municipal Assembly.

According to him, the hackers posted in the Albanian and English versions of the website of the municipality of Bujanovac, the so-called investment maps, showing the territory of Serbia without Kosovo, while the Serbian version of the map included Kosovo as part of Serbia.  Noting that the site of the Municipal Assembly of Bujanovac was put down three times this year, he pointed out that as early as that day the Albanian and English versions of the map were rectified to include the territory of Kosovo and Metohija as part of Serbia.

"The site is developed by two Serbian companies from Prokuplje and Nis, with the assistance of the Local Economic Development Office of the Bujanovac Municipal Assembly.  The local self-government didn’t initiate nor had any connection with the change of the map contents", said Mr. Stankovic.

He stated that the competent bodies knew that such behavior was contrary to the Constitution and to a series of applicable legal solutions, as well as that they had reacted and would react according to their role and existing authorizations.
