MR. STANKOVIC CALLED FOR POLITICAL SERIOUSNESS AND RESPONSIBILITY

31. August 2015.

Belgrade- The President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja Zoran Stankovic said that the talks between Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels  didn’t include discussions on the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja and called on the Albanian leaders from the three municipalities to be politically serious and responsible.

“They can express their position, but it won’t be the topic of any talks or the reason for  undertaking any activities for the formation of the community of Albanian municipalities in Serbia", Mr. Stankovic said.

Regarding the initiative of the President of the Albanian National Council Jonuz Musliu that the Albanians would declare autonomy of the said three municipalities, Mr. Stankovic said that the Coordination Body expected "a dose of political seriousness and responsibility"from the Albanian leaders in South Serbia.

“It's hard for me to comment on an initiative that doesn’t include the activities by which the lives of the people living in the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja would be improved.  The Coordination Body, which is headed by me, expects from the leaders of Albanians in South Serbia a dose of political seriousness and responsibility in this matter ", Mr. Stankovic said.

Musliu’s initiative to schedule a meeting of the Assembly of the Albanian Deputies from the three municipalities, at which, among other things, proclamation of the autonomy for them would be discussed, was supported by the statements of almost all Albanian political leaders from South Serbia.
