MOWING IN THE VILLAGE OF MAROVAC

Medvedja – On July 2, 2016, the Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Medvedja organizes the 17th.  "Mowing in the Village of Marovac”, which will take place in the Perovic meadows, where the best movers from the area of Upper Jablanica will gather together. 

The local community of Marovac and the native association “Kitka” assisted with organizing the tourist event. The event is traditionally held on the first Saturday in July and is included in the calendar of events of the Tourist Organization of Serbia.  

The event should begin at 11 am, while the announcement of winners and the award ceremony are scheduled to take place at around 4 pm. 

In addition to the major competition in mowing, the accompanying competitions in throwing stones from the shoulder, long jumps, pulling the rope, climbing the rope, shooting from an air rifle and the Rid – Cair race for young people, who are from 12 to 16 years old, will be held as well.  Modest cash prizes will be provided to the winners of the accompanying competitions. 

All those who wish to participate in the major mowing event should bring their scythes with them, while the necessary equipment for the accompanying competitions will be provided.

At 9 pm on Friday, July 1, 2016, a day prior to the mowing in the village of Marovac, the evening of the natives of that region will be held, during which the oral tradition of Upper Jablanica will be presented.
