MORE YOUNG PEOPLE IN NATIONAL COUNCILS

The Novi Pazar-based NGO “Urban In” implements the project entitled “Active Youth for Active National Councils”. The project is aimed at increasing youth participation in the work of national councils of national minorities and their influence on decision-making in order to increase the level and quality of the achievements of minority rights and the integration of minorities in the Serbian society. The project is funded by the EU, while it will be implemented in the territory of Sandzak and South Serbia (the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja ), Vojvodina and Belgrade.   

The project activities are divided into four groups. The first group includes meetings with the stakeholders and members of the National Council of Albanians, Bosniaks, Hungarians, Roma and Croats, the establishment of the coalition of civil society organizations, press conferences and TV shows. The second group includes the activities promoting the work of national councils of Albanians, Hungarians, Bosniaks, Roma and Croats through the holding of public conferences in five cities and municipalities, the publishing of monthly newspaper supplement in the languages ​​of national minorities and the promotion of non-political party lists of national minorities. The third group of activities relates to improving the communication and cooperation between the five national minority councils.  The fourth group includes the activities related to the monitoring of election campaigns and the national council elections this year. 

The target group for this project are young people active in youth offices and youth organizations and groups, representatives of national councils, local authorities and other relevant institutions in the communities where the project is implemented.

The Urban-In’s partner in this project is the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights.
