24. June 2015.

Presevo – Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans’ and Social Affairs, Aleksandar Vulin, will, today, visit Presevo, where a large number of migrants stay on a daily basis. One of the office buildings with a restaurant should be adapted for the temporary accommodation of these people

That facility of the Tobacco Company in Presevo is part of the complex of the Tobacco Industry in Vranje.

The administrative building with a restaurant “should be adapted for the reception and temporary accommodation of migrants that enter the territory of Serbia”, said the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans’ and Social Affairs.

Vulin Minister is the President of the Governmental Working Group for solving the problem of mixed migration flows, whose task is to monitor, analyze, and discuss the issues of mixed migration flows in Serbia.  The Working Group is tasked with proposing measures to address the problem and with harmonizing the views of the competent governmental bodies and other institutions dealing with the issue of mixed migration flows.

Vulin Minister underscored that Serbia was committed to respect for human rights and the highest standards, and that no asylum seeker “has remained and won’t remain without protection”.

“We shall provide medical care and food to the people in the directly affected municipalities of Presevo and Bujanovac, and shall also ensure that their movements are in accordance with the law”, said Minister Vulin.

It was announced yesterday that the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) would assist Serbia in food, medicine and transport to the asylum centers and temporary shelters for migrants, who kept coming to our country.
