7. November 2011.

Vranje – In accordance with the systemic solution of the issue of collecting and recycling solid waste, a special facility will be built in Vranje, which a foreign donor will finance with 450,000 euros, said Oliver Dulic, Minister of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, in Vranje.   Upon having talks with the Mayor of Vranje and Presidents of the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac, Trgoviste and Vladicin Han, he underscored that the solution in the field of waste disposal in South Serbia lay in the cooperation among the municipalities and added that the agreement on the issue had already been  reached.

“Owing to the financial support of the competent ministry in the amount of around 11 million dinars, we resolved the acute problem of the waste dump in the village of Rakovac, as well as purchased a container for removing garbage from the village of Veliki Trnovac, whereby raising the level of participation of residents of Bujanovac in the systemic waste collection by sixty per cent”, said Shaip Kamberi, President of the municipality of Bujanovac. He stated that the condition of six illegal dumps in the territory of the village of Rakovac, which caused serious problems this summer, would be improved.

Darko Tomic, President of the municipality of Trgoviste, said that containers for the local communities in 15 villages had been provided, as well as a garbage disposal vehicle, but that it was expected that garbage would be transferred to the “Metris” dump in Vranje.

In the opinion of Miroljub Stojcic, the mayor of Vranje, the construction of a recycling yard would “extend the life of the “Metris” dump, as well as provide the conditions for the option of storing garbage from the neighboring municipalities”.
