MILLIONS INVESTED IN SOUTH SERBIA

Bujanovac - Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, said in Bujanovac that over the past 14 years,  the Government of the Republic of Serbia, through the said body, had invested in the three municipalities around 6.3 billion dinars, while the international donors had invested  around 35 million euros.

“Over 14 years, one billion and 778 million dinars were allocated from the state budget and transferred to the municipality of Presevo, two billion and eight million dinars to the municipality of Bujanovac and one billion dinars to the municipality of Medvedja ", Mr. Stankovic said at a press conference held in Bujanovac on the anniversary of the founding of the Coordinating Body..

He said that the Coordination Body’s budget for that year had been reduced by 17 million dinars and added that the same amount of 417 million dinars had been planned for the following year.

“We will talk more about the issue and will notify the MPs, too ", said Mr. Stankovic.

Mr. Stankovic said that the main task of the Coordination Body was to get involved in the construction of the building of the Faculty of Economics’ Department in Bujanovac. He added that the funds of around one million euros had been provided two years before and that the documentation had been regulated, so that the construction of the building could start soon, while its completion was scheduled for the beginning of the next school year.  

”The outpatient maternity ward in Presevo was completed and fitted out six months ago, but it’s still non-operational. It was agreed with the Ministry of Health that it should fund the engagement of  three on-call gynecologists from Vranje Health Centre, as well as of another 12 midwives  in the outpatient  maternity ward”, said Mr. Stankovic.

He added that he expected that the Coordination Body would work more in the field of economy the following year, by  providing investors and reducing the number of unemployed.  Mr. Stankovic said that over the past three years, more than 200 people had been employed in small and medium-sized companies by means of 160 million dinars.

He also announced the resumption of talks with the Albanian leaders, which were discontinued a year ago because of their dissatisfaction with the proposed network of courts.
