MEETING BETWEEN MR. STANKOVIC AND STUDENTS OF THE SUBOTICA FACULTY OF ECONOMICS’ DEPARTMENT IN BUJANOVAC

Belgrade -  Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of  Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, addressed, yesterday  at the Palace of Serbia, students of the Subotica Faculty of Economics Department in Bujanovac.

Upon welcoming the students, the President of the Coordination Body pointed out that the Subotica Faculty of Economics’ Department in Bujanovac had 89 graduates until then, and that the Coordination Body was of the view that 20 graduates of the faculty should be employed at the Faculty in Bujanovac, as well as at the companies in and the local self- governments of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja. Mr. Stankovic said that the Subotica Faculty of Economics’ Department in Bujanovac should, in ten to fifteen years, become an independent faculty with its own teaching staff, which would include the best graduates of the Faculty in Bujanovac. He advised the students that they should continue to work, improve themselves and link with one another after graduating from the faculty, adding that the Coordination Body was there to help them out. 

Mr. Stankovic underscored that the students present at the meeting had to bring economic prosperity to the area of ​​the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, because there were, at that moment, no experts that were needed in that region.  He asked the students for their cooperation or to turn to the Coordinating Body for assistance whenever they did not know how they would do something.  He stressed that the government had an obligation to give them the chance, and that the Coordination Body, along with the local self-governments, would make sure that the given promises were fulfilled. 

The students were also addressed by Katarina Obradovic Jovanovic, the Assistant Minister of Economy of the Republic of Serbia, who said that she was, at the Ministry of Economy, in charge of small and medium-sized enterprises, projects financed from the EU funds and the development of entrepreneurship.  She encouraged the students that attended the meeting to either remain at the faculty or to find jobs in the sphere of the economy of the aforementioned municipalities.  She pointed out that 2017 had been declared the year of entrepreneurship and proposed that they should have a look at the Ministry of Economy’s programs for staring one’s  own business. She pointed out that the Ministry of Economy was open to cooperation and might, if necessary, organize crush training courses for the students attending the meeting.

Mr. Stankovic and the students spent the rest of the time on asking questions and giving answers, as well as on socializing.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, the Subotica Faculty of Economics’ Department in Bujanovac and the Chief of Staff of the Bujanovac Mayor’s Office.
