MEDVEDJA: PROJECT "FOR A BETTER FUTURE OF CHILDREN"

14. November 2018.

Мedvedja – Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja, points out that the municipality puts maximum efforts into stopping the migration of young people to larger urban centers and calls on them to actively participate in the preparation of the municipal budget for the next year and in the starting of their own businesses in that underdeveloped, multiethnic municipality in southern Serbia.

In support of the implementation of the population policy measures in the Republic of Serbia, the municipality of Medvedja co-finances and implements the measure of reconciling work and parenthood. The project "We are Working for a Better Future of Children" should contribute to a positive population climate and the elimination of noticed barriers (youth unemployment) against parenthood and childbearing. The support is directed to entrepreneurs, too, in order to stimulate them to employ young and unemployed parents.

Upon issuing a public call for participating in the training program for business start-ups and business improvement grants to young married couples, young mothers and women aged from 18 to 35, 44 candidates applied for running their own businesses and improving their farms.

The total funds allocated to the project amount to five million dinars, which are funded by the Office of the Minister without Portfolio, which is responsible for demography and population policy of the Republic of Serbia.

Last month, the municipality of Medvedja and the HELP organization jointly distributed to the young the grants amounting to 4,250,000 dinars for starting their own businesses.
