MEDVEDJA PELLET PLANT STARTS OPERATING

Medvedja - Forty-five young people are undergoing one-month training, after which they will begin working at a pellet plant in Medvedja.

The president of the municipality, Slobodan Draskovic, said that about fifty people would be employed in the factory.  

"The persons that applied for the positions at the plant and that were on the labour market are being trained," said Mr. Draskovic.  

He also said that over one million euros had been invested in the plant, which is located in the facility of the former "Termovent" factory.  

“The municipality of Medvedja raised a loan for the plant, which amounts to 670. 000 euros, the Slovenian government donated 290. 000 euros and the EU Progress 100. 000 euros," said Mr. Draskovic.

He added that the plant had provided the market for the export of pellets in Slovenia, Italy and Greece, as well as that it seriously counted on the domestic market.

The pellet plant in Medvedja will be officially opened on Thursday, while it was announced that Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Michael Davenport, Ambassador of Slovenia to Serbia and representatives of the EU Progress would attend the opening event.
