JOURNALISTS' ASSOCIATION OF SERBIA (JAS) LAUNCHED A COMPETITION FOR JOURNALISTIC AWARDS (DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 28, 2019)

The Journalists' Association of Serbia (JAS) launched a competition for journalistic awards for 2019 - those for life's work and for the best journalistic work published in the media between December 10, 2018 and December 10, 2019. 

Proposals should be submitted by December 13 at the latest, while the awards will be presented on the JAS Day, which is December 21.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is awarded for the overall work and a distinguished contribution to journalism, while the “Dimitrije Davidovic” Editing Award is awarded for the best annual editorial concept and achievement.

The “Laza Kostic” Award for Journalistic Creativity is awarded according to the forms of journalistic expression in the categories including news and report, reportage, photography and television recording and caricature (and journalistic satire).

The “Bogdan Tirnanic” Award is given for comments or columns, while the special award "Zika M. Jovanovic" is given for contribution to the history of the press and journalism, for theoretical works on journalism and journalistic work.

Among the awards for which the competition was issued is the AJS Golden Charter, which is awarded for many years of work and contribution to journalism and the development of the journalistic organization. 

The competition for the JAS "Aleksandar Tijanic" Award is underway, too, which is given for combativeness in journalistic expression and which has been awarded since 2015 for texts, articles published in print, electronic or online media, as well as for a journalistic move that would merit this award.

Journalists working in the media in Serbia can apply for the award, while their works must be published between November 28, 2018 and October 28, 2019.

Candidates for the award may be nominated by journalists and other citizens, as well as by organizations registered in Serbia. 

The deadline for submitting proposals is November 28, while the name of the award winner will be announced on December 13.

The award consists of a certificate and a sum of 2,000 euros in dinar counter- value and will be awarded at the annual JAS awards event, the Association said.
