JAZZ CONCERT IN BUJANOVAC

20. October 2014.

Bujanovac – As part of the final activities for the project “Jazz – A Multicultural Expression”, the Youth Jazz Orchestra of South Serbia held a concert in the hall of the “Vuk Karadzic” cultural center in Bujanovac.

The project is implemented by the Nisville Foundation, the Music School from Nis and the Leskovac-based music school “Stanislav Binicki”, while the sponsor of the project is the EU Delegation to Serbia, with the support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Office for Cooperation with Civil Society of the Government of Serbia.

Around fifty young musicians with the Serbian, Roma, Albanian and Bulgarian ethnic backgrounds presented themselves very successfully in multinational Bujanovac, while the applause received by the Youth Jazz Band confirmed the justifiability of the project, as well as the fact that there was a lot of interest for such concerts, especially in the environments in which such cultural events are very rare.

The two-hour program included mini concerts of jazz bands coming from the cities involved in the project, which are  Nis, Leskovac, Vladicin Han, Bosilegrad, Vranje and Bujanovac.  That was followed by a joint performance of all the participants in the project, during which they performed the following three compositions: “Watermelon Man”, “When the Saints Go Marchini’in” and “Nisville Jubilation”.
