JAPAN EMBASSY: DONATION PROGRAM FOR POPULATION BASIC NEEDS (POPOS) (DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 29, 2020)

22. October 2019.

POPOS grants are designed to meet the basic and urgent needs of the population. The projects are envisaged as a one-off, non-refundable assistance to local communities in areas such as healthcare, education, environmental protection and social protection.

The most common examples of realized donations are: the reconstruction of school and kindergarten buildings (mostly the replacement of windows and doors or the reconstruction of washrooms, roofs and floors), medical equipment and ambulances, garbage trucks and containers, water-tanks and street sweepers, special vehicles for the transportation of persons with special needs, the equipment for social welfare institutions etc.

This program does not envision the procurement of stationery (including basic IT equipment) or of consumables or disposable goods. POPOS donations are also not intended to cover the operating and other costs of the institutions.

Eligible to apply are healthcare institutions, primary schools and kindergartens, public utility companies, social welfare institutions, associations, international or local NGOs, local self-governments, etc.

The maximum value of the project is 10 million Japanese yen.
