JAPAN DONATED 200 BEE-HIVES TO VRANJE AND BUJANOVAC EACH

8. November 2011.

The Government of Japan, through the Skoplje-based office of Japan’s „JARC“ non-governmental organization, provided 200 fully equipped bee-hives to be-keepers from Vranje and Bujanovac each, said Srdjan Vasiljevic, Vranje’s Assistant Mayor for the field of agriculture.

Mr. Vasiljevic said that bee-keppers would get the bee-hives by the end of February 2012, so that they could avoid the additional costs of maintaining the bee-hives during the winter.

„The bee-hives are to be delivered together with swarms of bees, which were selected by experts from the Universities of Skoplje and Belgrade. One-year expert supervision, as well as expert marketing support, shall be provided to the bee-keepers that  are to recieve the bee-hives“, Mr. Vasiljevic said.

He stated that the bee-hives would be awarded in accordance with the criteria set by the donor, or that bee-hives should be donated to young people that are stating out in the bee-hive business and that wish to stay in their villages. Mr. Vasiljevic also said that Vranje would select the candidates to whom the bee-hives would be donated in agreement with two associations of be-keepers from those towns.
