INVITATION TO ATTEND A WORKSHOP ON CITIZEN JOURNALISM

The “Dokukino” Center for New Communications announces a public invitation to apply for attending a workshop on citizen journalism “Hear, See and Move”, which will be held in the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja.

The workshop is aimed at providing to the young, as well as to the associates of civil society organizations, an opportunity to acquire the basic journalistic skills, to learn all about the concept of citizen journalism, as well as about the potentials of the new media for informing about the activities.

Participants in the workshop will be trained to become "correspondents" and associates of news portals through an intensive program.

The project will be implemented through the principle of workshops, mentoring and presenting the results of three 15-memebr groups in each of the three aforementioned municipalities. The workshops will be held in Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, whereas the participants will, through a public invitation, be selected from the group of unemployed young people under the age of 30.

Preference will be given to the candidates who can speak both Albanian and Serbian. Also, attention will be paid to gender representation.

Тhe work will result in at least one story published in the Serbian media, while all participants will get a chance, upon a one-month mentoring, to do and publish their news, photos, stories, video or audio material.

The workshops, which will be in the form of a three-day course, will be held in the three municipalities in accordance with the following schedule:

• Presevo –May 18,19 and 20, 2012,
• Bujanovac- May 25,26 and 27, 2012, and
• Medvedja- June 1, 2 and 3, 2012.

All the interested candidates may apply by sending their resumes and cover letters to ideas @ dokukino. org by April 17, 2012, at the latest.

The three-day training will be held by Darko Sokovic, a new media expert and Director of the “Dokukino” Center for New Communications, and by Idro Seferi, a freelance journalist.
