INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SOS CHILDREN'S VILLAGES OBSERVED IN PRESEVO

Presevo – The International Day of SOS Children's Villages was observed, yesterday, by a series of events in Presevo, Belgrade, Nis and Obrenovac.

As part of the “Solidarity” program of urgent assistance, yesterday's date was marked in Presevo at the One Stop Centre in that city, where an art workshop for the children accommodated at the said center was organized, as well as a presentation of the current SOS Children's Villages’ projects for representatives of partner organizations.

The International Day of SOS Children's Villages is observed as the birth day of Hermann Gmeiner, the founder of the said villages, who, during his lifetime, contributed to the opening of  233 SOS children's villages in 85 countries.

The SOS Children's Villages is an international humanitarian organization, which has existed since 1949, and which is, today, providing assistance to over 1.2 million people in 134 countries worldwide.

The SOS Children's Villages has been operating in Serbia since 2004, through taking care of children without parental care, foster family support programs, youth employment support programs, providing emergency aid after earthquakes and floods and providing assistance to the refugees passing through Serbia.
