HOUSEHOLDS THAT COUNT SWALLOWS' NESTS IN THEIR BACKYARDS CAN GET A TON OF CORN (DEADLINE: JUNE 15, 2020)

4. June 2020.

A rural household that has the most swallow nests in its yard can get a ton of corn at a competition organized by the Society for the Study of Birds of Serbia. The call is open until June 15, while the jury will check the number of reported nests.

One swallow does not make a spring, but one nest in the yard is enough to participate in the competition, the Society stated.

“With this symbolic competition, we want to praise small rural households that are engaged in agriculture in the traditional way and thanks to whose attention and love, rural swallows still survive in our area.  We will reward the household with the most nests with a ton of corn. In the previous three years, which is how long we have been organizing the competition, it turned out that a ton of corn was an appropriate prize because all the winning households were cattle – breeding ones and corn was more than welcome, " Milan Ruzic, the Head of the Society for the Protection and Study of Birds of Serbia, says.

Those interested can apply via the online application form, which is available on https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdLvqCNFc4OiobvdnauRQqgKbkEkk_p1oNvHb8UsLMeqFODEg/viewform, or by dialing 011/33-43-902 by June 15. The final results of the competition will be published by June 21 on the website www.pticesrbije.rs and in the media.

All households in the territory of Serbia have the right to participate in the competition.
