GYNECOLOGICAL SURGERY WITHIN THE RECEPTION CENTRE IN PRESEVO

9. February 2016.

Presevo – A mobile gynecological surgery, which the UNFPA Office has donated to the Health Center in Vranje, will be stationed at the Reception Center in Presevo four hours every day. Felicia Jones, an expert in healthcare programs and the provision of healthcare services in the field of reproductive health in crisis and emergency situations, said that it was very important for women who were, on their migration route, passing through Serbia to know that they could get gynecological medical assistance in Presevo.

The Health Centre in Vranje stated that international protocols would be applied during the gynecological examinations of women migrants, as well as that medicines would be administered following the examinations, which means that the mobile surgery would operate as a small field clinic.

Over the past year, the UNFPA Office in Serbia was actively involved in responding to the migration crisis in the country. In 2015, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the UNFPA Office in Serbia provided mobile surgeries to the health centers in Sid and Vranje, as well as medical equipment to the health centers located on the migration route.
