GREAT SUCCESS OF EXHIBITORS FROM SOUTH SERBIA AT ETHNIC FOOD FAIR

4. December 2013.

Leskovac - President of the Regional Chamber of Commerce in Leskovac (RCCL) said that the exhibitors from South Serbia had achieved great success at the just completed Ethnic Food Fair.

Мr. Jovic said that the producers from the Jablanica and Pcinj districts had received five certificates for five brands out of twelve, which were judged at this year's fair.

He said that the fair was a very successful event, which contributed to the promotion of business products from South Serbia, and added that about 1,500 different products in the category of food and beverages had been displayed at the Ethnic Food Fair.

He said that the producers from South Serbia had sold everything they had brought to the fair and announced a "fight" for a new brand of "Leskovac’s local pork crisps".

Vladimir Bojovic, an associate in the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Jablanica and Pcinj districts, said that a great interest had been shown at the fair for food from South of Serbia, adding that it was "because it has a confirmed and branded quality". Mr. Bojovic said that there were increasingly more interested farmers from South Serbia who wanted to grow organic food.

"At the beginning of the fair, producers from one stand perceived the producers from the other one as bitter competition. And then they realized that they could be business partners," said Gordana Milenkovic, an associate in the RCCL.

She added that following this year’s eighth fair, the producers made sure that each of them had a place in the market with a high demand for products in the category of "healthy food".
