GOVERNMENT DECISION: A GROUP OF WORKERS SHALL BE RECEIVING FULL PENSIONS, NO MORE PENALTY POINTS

3. December 2020.

Belgrade - A new decision was reached at the meeting held between representatives of the union and the Minister of Labor, Darija Kisic Tepavcevic.

As of this month, all employees of the companies that were undergoing restructuring, who left their working places with the social program before the adoption of the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance in 2014 and whose pensions were unfairly reduced, shall be receiving the full amount of pension check without penalty points.

In that way, around 8,000 workers, who, before 2014, entered the program that included five or two years on the labor market and the introduction of the retirement age, would be exempted from the reduction because they did not meet the age requirement. They had no other choice then because their factories were in bankruptcy.

As for workers from option five, there was a government conclusion that allowed them to be paid a full check, which was valid until October 1. However, the technical Government abolished it then. The new provision, apart from them, will also include the employees who signed the "two years until retirement" program by December 31, 2014 at the latest.

The Law on Pension and Disability Insurance stipulates that anyone who does not meet the pension age requirement, which is 65 for men and 63 for women, is subject to penalty points, which means that 0.34 percent of the pension check amount is deducted for each missing month.
