"FREE ZONE JUNIOR" TRAVELING CINEMA FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS” IN MEDVEDJA

Medvedja, Belgrade – The “Free Zone Junior” traveling cinema for secondary school students set off, yesterday, on the first tour of Serbia.

As part of the project, which also includes a cross media exhibition of students' work, around 500 secondary school students from 10 cities in Serbia will have the opportunity to participate in workshops on media literacy.

At these workshops, which include the screenings of three short films, and under the expert guidance of the program mentor, they will be encouraged to find creative ways to express themselves in the media form of their choice.

During a fifteen- day tour of the unusual traveling cinema, male and female secondary school students will create their own media works, while the best works will be presented at a special cross-media exhibition, which will be organized on Saturday, December 16, at the "Rex" cultural center in Belgrade.

The traveling cinema for secondary school students will visit Medvedja, Trgoviste, Batocina, Ivanjica, Bela Palanka, Vlasotince, Priboj, Arilje, Prokuplje and Kursumlija, enveloping over ten various secondary schools.

The project is aimed at secondary school students from the economically poorest communities in Serbia.

The goal of the project is to contribute to the development of critical thinking among young people through the use of committed films in education, increase media literacy, tolerance and break down prejudices and stereotypes.

The project is implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia.
