“FREE ZONE” FESTIVAL TOUR OF 40 SERBIAN CITIES

15. April 2014.

Belgrade – The “Free Zone” film festival starts its ninth tour of over 40 Serbian cities, which will be visited in April, May and June. The first city on the route is Leskovac, while the other stops, among other cities and municipalities, include Vranje and the municipalities of Bujanovac and Presevo.

Visitors of the film festival will have the opportunity to watch a selection of seven films, which were chosen by the Belgrade audience as the best movies of the 9th. “Free Zone” film festival, which was held in November 2013 for over 17, 000 people.

The program will include “The Lunchbox”, which was, according to the votes of the audience, the best film of the film festival. The film was directed by the Indian director Ritesh Batra. The film starts with a slight confusion over lunchboxes, which causes a great miracle that leads to a sudden friendship and love between two complete strangers.

Included in the tour is” The Pervert’s Guide to Ideology”, directed by Sophie Finnes, a film that opened the 9 th. “Free Zone” film festival and that had four repeated showings owing to the huge interest of the audience in it.  The main character and narrator, a controversial philosopher Slavoj Zizek, psychoanalyzes blockbusters such as the Jaws, Taxi Driver, Titanic and the Dark Knight.

The selection also includes a film by the British director Ken Loach “The Spirit of ‘45”, the Belgian candidate for the Oscar for the best foreign film “The Broken Circle Breakdown” by Felix van Groningen, the Croatian documentary “Gangster of Love” by Nebojsa Slijepcevic, the  “Harmony Lessons” film by the Kazakhstan director Emil Baigazin and the film “Tomorrow”, directed by the former Russian figure skating team member Andrej Grijacev.

“Free Zone”, in cooperation with the media company MTV and “24 Hours” newspaper, will grant audience rewards to the authors of the best reviews or short essays about one of the films from the tour program.
