FOR THE TIME BEING, THE NORTHERN PART OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF BUJANOVAC WITHOUT MINES

Bujanovac - Ali Aslani, the Chief of Staff of the Center for Emergency Situations of the municipality of Bujanovac, said that the team of counter-miners from the Belgrade-based “Saturnija” company, that has been exploring the terrain contaminated with ordnance in the northern part of the municipality since October 20, had not, so far, found any explosive devices.  

The work is performed as part of the project of technical inspection of a locations of 275,800 square meters, which is suspected of being contaminated with ordnance remnants from 2000/2001, or the period of operation of the former Liberation Army of the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja against regular security forces of the then Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

The author of the project is the Center for Demining of the Republic of Serbia, which also controls the quality of work done, in partnership with the International Trust Fund. Funds for the project implementation were provided by the Governments of the United States of America and the Republic of Serbia. The project-related activities are to be completed by November 27, 2017.
