FIRST CYCLE OF TRAINING FOR TEACHERS WHO TEACH SERBIAN AS A NON-MOTHER TONGUE IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF PRESEVO, BUJANOVAC AND MEDVEDJA

23. April 2015.

The Coordination Body’s Office and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development organized the first cycle of training for junior and senior primary school  teachers. Junior and senior primary school teachers who teach Serbian as a non-mother tongue in primary schools in the three municipalities attended the training at the Nis-based Regional Centre for Professional Development of Teachers from April 15 to 19.

Of the 56 junior and senior primary school teachers of Serbian as a non-mother tongue, 19 of them underwent a four-day training. The training was held by teachers of the Serbian language dealing with, inter alia, the methodology of Serbian as a non-mother tongue.  Junior and senior primary school teachers had the opportunity to deal, on a daily basis, with the topics concerning the organization of teaching Serbian as a non-mother tongue and with the ways of implementing it.

The first cycle of training for primary school teachers is part of the usage of the recommendations contained in the “Study on the Possibilities of Improving the Knowledge and Learning of Serbian as Non-Mother Tongue in Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja”, which was organized with the support of the British Embassy.

The Coordination Body’s Office, along with the Ministry of Education, will continue undertaking other activities that are recognized as important for further training of teachers and for improving the teaching and learning of Serbian as a non-mother tongue. The second stage of certified training for junior and senior primary school teachers will be organized in Bujanovac from May 7 to 10.

Upon completion of the training, the teachers will visit their colleagues in Vojvodina for the purpose of exchanging experiences related to the organization and realization of classes in this school subject.
