FINES FOR FAILURE TO RESPOND TO THE CALLS FOR BEING ENTERED INTO MILITARY RECORDS

Bujanovac - “The general call was announced on January 6 and it will last until February 28. The call refers to all young men who became of age this year, as well as to older persons, who for some reason have not yet been entered into the records, "Igor Milanovic, the Head of the Defense Ministry’s Center in Vranje, told the journalists in Bujanovac.

According to him, following the abolition of regular military service, this is the only obligation of young men, and it consists only of completing the questionnaire, which does not last more than a few minutes.

After the expiry of the general call, those who fail to respond to it will receive individual calls at their home addresses. If the person fails to respond to the individual call, the Ministry of Defense’s Center shall submit a request for instigating misdemeanor proceedings against him.

“We do not want anyone to be involved in court proceedings, especially for the commitment that lasts for 2 to 3 minutes, "said Mr. Milanovic, adding that the fines for failing to comply with the call ranged from 10,000 to 50,000 dinars.

Failure to respond to the calls entails other consequences, which particularly affect the inhabitants of the municipalities of Bujanovac and Presevo.

“Unfortunately, many young people from this area go to the countries of Western Europe, demanding the citizenship of another country, while we do not give consent to the revocation of citizenship of the Republic of Serbia unless the person is entered into military records, "Mr. Milanovic said.

He said that it was possible to be entered into military records at diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Serbia abroad, but that that procedure was quite expensive, while the one done here was free of charge.

The entry into military records is done at the municipal offices of the Ministry of Defense in Bujanovac and Presevo, or at the Center in Vranje, while Mr. Milanovic asked all those to whom the call is related to fulfill their legal obligation.
