On January 29, 2009, Michael Pillsbury, the USAID’s Economic Security Program Director, signed an Agreement on Cooperation in the implementation of the “Youth Achievement” program with representatives of the municipalities of Vranje, Presevo and Bujanovac.
On the occasion of signing the agreement at the Pcinj district building, Mr. Pillsbury said that the program was aimed at “improving local economy through the young, who will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills, thanks to which they’ll be competitive on the market after completing secondary school.” “The specific knowledge and skills will provide them with important advantages when setting up or running their own businesses,” he said. The goal of the educational “Youth Achievement” program, which is, for the time being, implemented only at secondary schools, is the promotion of the values of entrepreneurship and the understanding of business, market economy and financial operations among Serbia’s young people, which will be achieved through  establishing at least one student company at schools. As it was said, the program will include secondary school students in Vranje, Presevo and Bujanovac until the end of the current school year, while as of the next school year, the “Youth Achievement” program is to be introduced in primary schools as well.
