Lieutenant General Miloje Miletic, Chief-of-Staff of the Serbian Army, said that the “Jug” army base, which is situated near Bujanovac, would, with the assistance of foreign partners, grow into a regional training center for domestic and foreign soldiers deployed in peace operations.

“We should expand the capacities and training contents of the army base, so that they wouldn’t be duplicates of those of the similar army centers in the neighborhood, such as “Butmir” in Bosnia and Herzegovina or the “Krivolak” training ground in the Republic of Macedonia”, Lieutenant General Miletic said.

Chief-of-Staff of the Serbian Army said that land troops would be, this year, supplied with the equipment modeled upon the one used by M21 infantrymen. Also planned is the procurement of the “Lasta” training planes, electronic reconnaissance systems, telecommunication devices and all-terrain vehicles.
