A delegation from the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja visited South Serbia on February 17, 2008. Members of the delegation included President, Deputy President and Vice President of the Coordination Body Rasim Ljajic, Nenad Popovic and Dusan Spasojevic, as well as Director of the Coordination Body's Office Nenad Djurdjevic and Heads of the Teams for Implementation of the Coordination Body's Projects in Bujanovac and Presevo Sima Gazikalovic and Branko Delibasic. They had a meeting with members of the Team for Security and Judiciary Issues in Vranje. They also paid a visit to the Army and Ministry of Internal Affair's bases in South Serbia in order to check out the security situation in South Serbia on the spot. Members of the Coordinaation Body's delegation talked with Mayors of Bujanovac and Presevo, as well as with representatives of the local Serbs in Bujanovac and Presevo.
"The Coordination Body will continue taking intensive political and economic activities in South Serbia," said Mr. Ljajic, who, along with members of the delegation, visited the "Bujic" police and gendarmerie post and the "Sevadske livade" Army base. Mr. Spasojevic said that the security situation in South Serbia was stable and that there was no notification that any incidents would occur in the region. He pointed out that peace and political stability in South Serbia were in everyone's interest, so that economic renewal of the region, which was initiated six years ago, could continue - Mr. Ljajic said and added that the competent bodies were carefully monitoring the situation in the region.
