ELECTRONIC PRESCRIPTIONS TO BE INTRODUCED SOON

28. July 2017.

Belgrade - Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar said that electronic prescriptions would be introduced soon and that chronic patients would not have to have appointments with their doctors every two months in order to get their prescriptions.

The electronic prescription will have the same validity period as the currently used paper one, which is seven days for most drugs, including the day of its issue. The only exceptions are antibiotics, for which a prescription is valid for only three days, as well as drugs from the D list, which the patient may pick up from pharmacies within 30 days.

He said that according to official data, all planned medical cards had been printed and delivered to the Republican Fund for Health Insurance, adding that they were currently being distributed.

“The organization should have been better. I am not pleased by how everything was done. Some people will have to bear the consequences," Minister Loncar said.
