DRIED WATER-SPRINGS AROUND BUJANOVAC

11. July 2012.

Bujanovac – Several villages along the border with Macedonia, which are situated in the municipality of Bujanovac, are, from the beginning of July, supplied with water from the water tanks, because the sources of drinking water in the area dried up, said yesterday the technical director of the city’s public enterprise "Komunalac" Sami Aliji.

Mr. Aliji said that a water tank is daily sent to the villages of Sejace, Jablanica, Vogance, Gornji and Donji Starac and Brnjare. Also, residents of the villages situated in the immediate vicinity of Bujanovac, which include Božinjevac and Struharske mahale in Veliki Trnovac, asked for a water tank, too.

"So far we have managed to supply water to all the places from which people turned to the municipal authorities. These are rural areas where water is necessary for the cattle, and the water for such purposes is poured from water tanks put into large containers, "said Mr. Aliji.

According to Mr. Aliji, there are no water supply problems in the urban area of Bujanovac. The head of the Jablanica local community, Novica Nastasijević, said that that village, which is situated on the banks of the Pcinja River and near the monastery of St. Prohor Pčinjski, is left without drinking water every summer, because the only source of drinking water, from which the inhabitants of the village are supplied with it, dries up.
