DISTRIBUTION OF AID PACKAGES TO HELP THE POOREST FAMILIES AND MEMBERS OF THE “HEART FOR CHILDREN” ASSOCIATION HAS BEGUN

27. March 2020.

Medvedja – Thanks to the funds allocated from the budget of the local self-government, groceries were purchased and placed in the Sports Hall, where volunteers of the municipality of Medvedja put them into packages. The most basic foodstuffs will be distributed to the poorest fellow citizens.

During the day, aid packages have been delivered to members of the Heart for Children Association, then to the vulnerable locals in the local communities of Marovac, Sijarinska Spa, Negosavlje, Tulare, Petrilje, Mrkonje and Medevce, as well as in the Roma settlement in Medvedja. The list of families was made on the basis of the data of the Center for Social Work and the Red Cross.

Due to the large number of calls and interest in the packages, the Deputy Commander of the Staff, Goran Ivanovic, begs the citizens who belong to the most vulnerable category of population to be patient and understanding, because the municipality of Medvedja coordinates a number of activities with the aim of providing daily assistance to people who are not allowed to leave their homes and for whom dozens of volunteers were hired.

If there are any citizens who were left out from the first distribution of aid packages, they should call 016 / 891-138, upon which they will be included in the list for the aid packages.

In addition to the assistance provided by the local self-government, a donation arrived from Boban Cerović, a native of Medvedja, who donated a 250 kg - package of dairy products.

The Municipal Emergency Management Staff of Medvedja once again urges that citizens must comply with the measures adopted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, as well as with the orders of the Municipal Staff, for the benefit of all citizens of Medvedja and for the purpose of preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the territory of the municipality.
