DESK CREATIVE EUROPE SERBIA - COMPETITION "STRENGTHENING CULTURAL COOPERATION AND COMPETITIVENESS OF THE CULTURAL AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES IN THE WESTERN BALKANS (Deadline: March 17, 2020)

The Competition "Strengthening Cultural Co-operation and Competitiveness of the Cultural and Creative Industries of the Western Balkans" opened on December 17, 2019 and runs until March 17, 2020.

The overall objective of the competition is to provide incentives for reconciliation and building good neighborly relations in the Western Balkans through cultural cooperation.

The specific objectives of the competition are:

  • Strengthening cross-border cultural cooperation within the Western Balkans and EU member countries;
  • Strengthening the competitiveness of the cultural and creative industries in the region.

In view of the above, the following priorities have been set for project selection:

  1. Strengthening the capacity of the cultural and creative industries to act transnationally and internationally;
  2. Increasing the transnational circulation of works of art and the mobility of players in culture and the arts;
  3. Promoting intercultural dialogue between artists, cultural professionals and the general public.

Since the competition is funded by the EU IPA II program, only EU and Western Balkan countries can participate in the projects. Only legal entities can apply for the competition, while the projects must be partnership ones.  The project partnership must consist of at least five partners (project promoter + four partners), with at least two partners from two different Western Balkan countries and at least two partners from two different EU countries.

The minimum project duration is 24 months, while the maximum one is 48 months. Project activities must start between January 1 and March 31, 2021.  

Applications that have already been submitted for the last call for proposals for European cooperation projects cannot be submitted to this call for proposals.
