DELEGATION OF THE ELECTRIC POWER INDUSTRY OF SERBIA TODAY IN BUJANOVAC

5. August 2014.

Nis – Due to the recent events in the National Assembly of Serbia, when Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic spoke with the MPs, and the enormous debts of the population in the southern Serbian municipalities for unpaid electricity, a delegation consisting of members of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia and the electric power company “Jugoistok Nis“is today paying a visit to Bujanovac.  The reason for the visit to Bujanovac, Presevo and Vranje has to do with the unpaid electricity bills.

Members of the delegation will meet with the mayor of Presevo, Ragmi Mustafa, and with the mayor of Bujanovac, Nagip Arifi, in order to find a compromise solution to settle large debts of businesses and individuals, as well as the theft of electricity in these municipalities.

The population of the far south of the country owes more than two billion dinars for electric power. A small number of families with the Serbian population regularly pay their obligations, as well as a very small number and Albanian households.

According to the official information available to the electric power company "Jugoitok Nis", every family in the Presevo municipality owes around 42. 000 dinars, while the obligations of the families in Bujanovac are almost twice as high, amounting to more than 70. 000 dinars per household.
