DAY OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF MEDVEDJA DEDICATED TO PROVIDING AID TO FLOOD VICTIMS

Мedvedja – 200 thousand dinars will be allocated from the budget of the municipality of Medvedja for providing aid to those in need, while employees of the local self-government will give up five percent of their salaries for that purpose, said Natasa Filic, the President of the Assembly of the Municipality of Medvedja.

The fact that the largest part of the mayor Slobodan Draskovic’s speech, which he gave on the occasion of the Day of the Municipality of Medvedja, was dedicated to collecting and distributing aid to the flooded areas, shows how much people in this municipality are focused on collecting flood relief.

Mr. Draskovic reiterated that the municipality was ready to accommodate 2,000 people evacuated from the flooded areas. Instead of being marked by a festive session, the Day of the municipality of Medvedja was symbolically marked by a working session and by a reception given by the Mayor.

During the working session, the most deserving individuals and organizations, as well as primary and secondary school students were awarded cash prizes for the results achieved in national and international competitions, while a letter of thanks was delivered to the Red Cross organization for its special engagement in collecting aid for the flood victims.
