COORDINATION BODY PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS TO SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

28. September 2018.

Belgrade -  The Coordination Body’s Office issued a call for awarding scholarships to secondary school students from the municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja. Providing scholarships to secondary school students from the area of these municipalities is one of the most important activities of the Coordination Body, by which it helps and encourages young people from these municipalities, as well as their development, improvement of education, said Zoran Stankovic, the President of the Coordination Body.

He pointed out that secondary school students from those municipalities would receive scholarships that year, as they did in the previous ten years, provided they met the requirements of the call.

"The requirements of the call are clear. It is necessary that the candidates had excellent or very good school marks in previous school years and, of course, that they did not repeat any school years," Mr. Stankovic said and added that it was imperative that the children resided in those three municipalities.

The President of the Coordination Body said that the students who already had some other scholarship could not get that one, too, and if they got a scholarship from the Coordination Body’s Office, and meanwhile got another one, were obliged to opt for one of the two scholarships.

"It is no small thing that the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia has been allocating in its budget the funds for scholarships to secondary school students for almost a decade. Around 300 secondary school students receive six thousand dinars, which is a nice amount, every month during the school year. This demonstrates the government’s concern for young people from these municipalities, who will use their knowledge and education to contribute to the development of that area,” Mr. Stankovic said.

The Coordination Body’s Office, in compliance with its budget, has the funds for 300 scholarships, and according to the quotas of the municipalities, Bujanovac will get 40% or 120 scholarships, Presevo 39% or 117, and Medvedja 21% or 63.
