CITIZENS STOPPED SESSION OF MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY IN MEDVEDJA, FLARE-UP CONTINUES TO INTENSIFY

14. January 2015.

Medvedja – After yesterday's violent breakup of the session of the Municipal Assembly of Medvedja, at which Natasa Filic wasn’t elected the new mayor of Medvedja, both sides made accusations, while the opposition Serbian Progressive Party switched the responsibility for the possible consequences to state and local governments.

“All responsibility for future events in Medvedja and beyond rests with the relevant public authorities and government officials, since the opposition, led by the Serbian Progressive Party, is no longer able to control the performances of its supporters and other citizens, as Medvedja, thanks to these people and their work, has been brought to extinction", it was said in a statement made by the party.

The Serbian Progressive Party refers to the will of the residents of Medvedja.

“The people of Medvedja seek justice and truth about all the events that occurred in the municipality over the past ten years. The people of Mededja request responsibility for the current disastrous situation in the municipality", members of the Serbian Progressive Party in Medvedja said.
