CITIZENS OF MEDVEDJA PARTICIPATE IN DRAWING UP A BUDGET FOR 2019

Medvedja – Over the past week, Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of Medvedja, held meetings with representatives of the local communities in the municipality of Medvedja, as well as with representatives of the political parties, for the purpose of including and encompassing all the relevant factors in the drawn up of the budget for 2019.

The budget of the municipality of Medvedja will be set on the basis of the proposals of citizens, who, over the past period, had the opportunity to give their suggestions through written proposals that they could have submitted on the premises of the Municipal Administration, which is temporarily relocated to the Committee building.

The topic of a meeting held with the local communities was summarizing the results of the current year, where local community leaders could put their problems forward, so that everything that was alarming could be taken into account in the drawing up of the 2019 budget and so that it could be decided which road and district infrastructure routes should be done first.

“Our priority in all the local communities, over the next year, too, will be to sort out district roads. Although plenty of routes were done this year, the municipality of Medvedja is populated in a sprawling manner, so that a lot of requests for resolving road-related problems were received during the year. In addition, the citizens turned to us for help because of the frequent interruptions in power supply, bus transportation and poor mobile phone signals in the local communities, "said Nebojsa Arsic, the Mayor of the municipality.

Mayor Arsic said that with the aim of solving those problems, they had initiated a meeting with representatives of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia from Leskovac, which would help solve them, while a letter was sent to the competent Ministry, so that the issues of power supply in local communities could be resolved as soon as possible.

They also said that the clearing up of the electrical grid would begin in the course of the week. A new switch would be purchased and the existing two fixed, while the worn-out wooden poles along the Tulare route would be replaced.

“It is strategically important that the second power line be extended, the so-called ring-like power supply from Klajic to Medvedja, so that residents of the municipality of Medvedja could have an alternative power supply, " Mayor Arsic said.

Amendments to the Statute of the municipality of Medvedja are being prepared in accordance with the new Law on Local Self-Governments, whereby a solution for all the local communities that do not have their legal and legitimate representatives will be found, given that many local communities had failed to elect the officials that would lead them.

Also, the Mayor proposed at the meeting that they should cooperate more with local communities in the future.

It was jointly decided at the meeting of the Municipal Council that significantly more resources should be allocated to agriculture, roads, youth and to fostering the expansion of the family.

The funds planned for the 2019 budget will be determined on a priority basis, while efforts will be made to meet, within the budgetary reserves, the citizens’ needs as much as possible.
