CENTER FOR MODERN SKILLS (CMS) RECEIVES APPLICATIONS FOR THE PROJECT "YOUTH AGAINST VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN" (DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 22, 2019)

16. September 2019.

The Center for Modern Skills (CMS) started receiving applications for the "Youth Against Violence Against Women" project. The project is aimed at secondary school students from Sabac, Paracin, Kikinda and Belgrade (Stari Grad Municipality), as well as at all other secondary school students who share the values of equality and nonviolence.

Interested secondary school students can apply by filling in the application form on https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSciAYY9OlW4SJzbFdFNAJYkfmyDmQ8iQu0KzETYGhZThUM4tw/viewform by September 22, 2019.

The aim of the project is to inform, motivate and engage secondary school students, primarily young men attending the first and second grade of secondary school, to combat violence against girls.

The project will use the COMBI (Communication for Behavioral Impact) methodology, by which the CMV will try to have an influence on the change of behavior of young men on the topic of women's rights, their relationship with girls, and their involvement in combating violence against women. The project participants, with the support of a mentor, will design their own local campaign on combating violence against women.

The project will be followed-up by the SeConS Development Initiative Group, which will conduct research through surveys and focus groups.   The research findings will help the project team, as well as the schools and local self-governments, to understand students' attitudes about violence against women, peer violence, and other topics of adolescent male-female relationships. The project is also supported by the Coordination Body of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for Gender Equality.

The Youth on Violence Against Women project is being implemented under the UN Agency's Regional Program for the Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment "Stop Violence Against Women: Implementing Norms, Changing Consciousness", which is financially supported by the European Union.
