CELEBRATION OF 950 YEARS OF PROHOR PCINJSKI MONASTERY POSTPONED FOR SEPTEMBER

Bujanovac – The central celebration of the 950th anniversary of the Prohor Pcinjski Monastery, which was supposed to be held in mid-May, with a session of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church, was postponed due to the corona virus for September 6, according to the Diocese of Vranje.

In addition to the new date of the central celebration, at the session of the Executive Board for the celebration of the jubilee, which met in the monastery's Royal Residence in Prohor, it was decided that a decision on the new date of the International Scientific Conference "The Venerable Prohor Pcinjski - 950 Years in the Serbian People" should be subsequently reached by the Program Council of the Board.

The works for the International Conference, which was supposed to be held from June 11 to 13, were submitted by more than 50 researchers from the country and abroad.

The celebration of the jubilee was to be completed on November 12, on the day of St. Milutin, who renovated the monastery 700 years ago, and in the meantime, exhibitions, literary and art competitions, book promotions, a summer school for Serbian children and youth from the diaspora were to be organized, as well as a number of other activities that are likely to be given a new time.

The Jubilee of the Prohor Pcinjski Monastery will be marked by the activities of the Circle of Serbian Sisters, the All-Orthodox Society of St. Justin Celijski and Vranjski and the Justin's Youth.
