CALL FOR YOUTH DELEGATES OF SERBIA TO THE UNITED NATIONS (DEADLINE: JULY 20, 2020)

Since 2017, the Association for the United Nations of Serbia has been implementing the project "Youth Delegates of Serbia in the United Nations", which includes the selection of two youth delegates to the United Nations and their active work during the one-year mandate.

With the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia, the institutional framework for the official selection of young representatives was established and during the first cycle, experiences were gained for the project development and sustainability in accordance with relevant UN documents and youth policy in Serbia.

The project’s donor is the Youth Association "Novi Sad Youth Capital of Europe - OPENS". The project’s partners are: the Umbrella Organization of Youth of Serbia and the National Association of Youth Offices.

The selected young representatives of the Republic of Serbia will play a role on a voluntary basis at the UN sessions in which young people are involved, and in official contacts they will represent Serbia's interests in the UN and the needs of young people in Serbia. The status of young delegates will be at the level of youth advisors, while the platform will be prepared in consultation with youth policy players and in dialogue with their peers across the country, through participation in various events.

The goal of the project is to encourage the inclusion of young people in the state youth policy and social obligations, by means of expressing youth interests through the role of youth representative in the state delegation to the UN, as well as continuous training of new young leaders for change.

The call for applications is open to young people aged 19 to 27, who are citizens of the Republic of Serbia, have an active knowledge of English, good knowledge of youth policy in Serbia, knowledge of the United Nations system, previous experience in youth activism, success in education and extracurricular activities, as well as other achievements significant for the program of youth delegates to the UN. .

The application deadline is July 20, 2020. The process of selecting youth delegates will consist of 3 stages: the public call, the testing of the best ranked-candidates based on their applications and interviews of the most successful candidates after the testing.
