CALL FOR GRANTS TO MEMBERS OF COOPERATIVES ISSUED

28. June 2018.

Belgrade - Milan Krkobabic, the Minister for Regional Development, said that farmers and members of cooperatives could, from that day on, apply to the call for grant incentives, for which, as part of the project “500 Cooperatives in 500 Villages,” around 825 million dinars were set aside.

Minister Krkobabic said for the Radio and Television of Serbia said that interested farmers could, over the next 45 days, apply to the call, and that the implementation of the project should begin in the fall.

He also said that it was planned for 60 to 70 villages in Serbia to get cooperatives that year.

"The principle remains similar to the last year’s one," he said, adding that the existing cooperatives would get 15 million dinars in grants, while the new cooperatives would get 7.5 million dinars in grants.

He stated that complex type cooperatives, too, would be launched during the year.

"The funds are intended for the purchase of livestock units, equipment and technology,"  Minister Krkobabic said.

As previously announced, under the program of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, which is implemented by the Office of the Minister for Regional Development, 823.515 million dinars would be irrevocably assigned to cooperatives in 2018. That is four times more than in 2017, when the project of the revival of cooperatives in Serbia, which is known as the project of “500 Cooperatives in 500 Villages”, started.

Since mid-2017, when the project was launched, over 240 new cooperatives have been established in Serbia.
