CALL FOR CITIES IN FOCUS 2020 ISSUED (DEADLINE: JANUARY 18, 2020)

As part of the program Cities in Focus, the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia launched a call for applications entitled Cities in Focus 2020, which provides an opportunity for local self-governmental units to improve their cultural capacities and cultural offers by co-operating with institutions, art and other associations registered for performing cultural activities and individuals (artists, associates or cultural experts). The selected local self-governmental units will take the City in Focus title, which will enable them to be recognized as relevant national centers for cultural development and thus become more visible on the cultural map of the Republic of Serbia and Europe.

The subject of the call is to encourage local development by supporting the annual programs of cultural activities implemented in the territory of the selected local self-government. The annual proposals of the local self-governmental unit’s program should be submitted in the form of the documentation necessary for applying – the project.

The general objectives of the Program are:

- Improved fields of culture and arts in local communities;

- Enriched cultural life;          

- Encouraged development of creativity and cultural diversity;

- Recognized specific qualities of cultural identity and the sustainable development of the local community.           

 

The specific objectives of the Program are:

- Encouraged contribution of culture to long-term and sustainable development of local self-governmental units in line with their strategic priorities;

- Strengthened capacities of culture at the local level, as well as improved interdepartmental (education, research, environment, urban development, social policy, economic development and cultural tourism) and cross-sectoral (public, private and civil sector) cooperation;

- Enriched cultural offers and improved quality of content; 

- Preserved and promoted cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue;       

- Upgraded and modernized cultural infrastructure;  

- Protected and revitalized cultural monuments;

- Enhanced regional and international cultural exchange and cooperation;

- Improved accessibility of cultural content to all citizens and encouraged cultural participation with a particular reference to vulnerable social groups;           

- Provided stimulating environment for the creative expressions of independent artists and individuals in the field of culture.          

Only local self-governmental units (cities or municipalities) may apply for the call.

The call for applications is open until January 18, 2020.
